Other video programs
February 23rd, 2010 by Dave

If you are using a Mac, you are probably not in this workshop. Macintosh leads the field of consumer-level digital movie making, and has a real wealth of programs for creating and editing video (programs about which we know very little :) ).

Windows based programs, however, have proliferated greatly in the past 5-7 years, and it seems like new products are constantly hitting the market. We’ve only touched on a few ‘key players’ in this session, but be aware that there are tons of options out there.

A few products to consider as you move forward:

Pinnacle VideoSpin: a movie creation product very similar to Movie Maker, but with sound-recording (and recording volume control) capability built in as well as some very cool templates for title slides and subtitles.

Cam Studio: program to record computer desktop actions. Use this to demonstrate things that are actually done on your machine, and then import to Movie Maker to edit, add sound, titles, etc.

Any Video Converter: useful to change file formats for different movie and audio files.

Pivot: fun little animation program that the kids love to use.
